Method

The Ledger Method.

Four stages, logged like a ledger, on every engagement — so you always know exactly what stage the work is at.

Method

Audit, plan, build, report

We named it the Ledger Method because that's genuinely how the work is run: every stage is written down, dated, and handed to you — not kept in an agency's internal dashboard. Audit, plan, build, report — the same four stages on every engagement, logged like a ledger, so you always know what stage the work is at.

A wide atmospheric macro photograph of ruled ledger paper transitioning from ink to ember light.

The four stages

  1. 01

    Audit— Opening balance

A full technical and visibility audit, with findings written in plain language and prioritised by impact — not a raw data export.

Typical timeline: The first one to two weeks of any engagement.

A findings report you own outright.
  2. 02

    Plan— The entry

A written scope — what will be done, in what order, and why — logged and dated before any billable work starts.

Typical timeline: Agreed before month one of a retainer begins, or before a one-off engagement’s work phase starts.

A plan document, dated, that you sign off on.
  3. 03

    Build— Posting the work

Ongoing execution against the logged plan — technical fixes, content, links, or AI-visibility structuring, depending on the service.

Typical timeline: Continuous, month over month, for retainer services.

Completed, tracked work items, visible to you as they’re finished.
  4. 04

    Report— The statement

Monthly, plain-language reporting on what was done, what changed, and what’s next.

Typical timeline: Every month, on a consistent date.

A report you own, not one locked inside an agency dashboard.

Tools we work in

Named plainly, as tools we work in — not as a partnership or certification claim.

  • Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4, for measurement and reporting.
  • Google Business Profile, for local listings management.
  • A dedicated crawler and audit tool, for the technical work behind every audit.
  • Keyword and competitive research tooling, to plan content and prioritise fixes.
  • Structured-data testing tools, to verify schema markup before it ships.

A sample monthly report

A sample of the format your monthly report takes — plain language, dated, yours to keep. Real reports use your actual figures; this one doesn't belong to any client.
